Exploring New Heights

We’re exploring new heights today on The Chicago Chic with our friends at BOGA. As an emerging Chicago-based menswear brand located on the Near West Side, they seek to change the way guys shop for luxury ‘dress casual’. Everything is made on a deceptively simple, yet utterly luxurious design aesthetic. We’re talking Egyptian Giza 45 cotton dress-shirts, wool blends from some of the most acclaimed mills in Europe, and leathers from Spanish and Italian tanneries.

New for A/W ’14, they’ve introduced 6 blazers which can be easily coordinated with their waistcoats, shirts and ties. At BOGA, they believe in functionality and being able to mix and match pieces to create multiple unique looks. Using a color palate that’s basically fool-proof allows you to play around a little, without running the risk of looking like a sloppy dresser. If you’re color blind, this might be your answer.

For my styled look with BOGA, I went with an easy, yet supremely elegant statement, with an undercurrent of sartorial spunk. I started with a wool/silk/cashmere/linen blend blazer in a warm oak color and paired it with a windowpane waistcoat. Like patterns and prints, texture can go a long way in terms of adding extra dimension to your fall wardrobe. I’ve added a textured wool tie in a rich tobacco color which pulls out the warmer hues in my waistcoat and pops against the charcoal colored shirt. I also want to highlight these amazing boots, perhaps my favorite piece of the whole outfit. Dubbed the “BOSSMAN” boot, it makes you feel exactly so. An awesome dress boot is a great staple in your wardrobe this season, as it can be worn casually with denim or dressed up with a suit. They are an investment, but I have always believed that footwear is one area you should never skimp on. If you want to win the office style war, sometimes you have to break out the big guns.
