Dior Spring Summer 2015

Dior. It’s basically what any good fashion girl dreams are made of. If Paris Fashion Week is already a fantasy (complete with croissants in the morning, steak frites for dinner and champagne as a nightcap, wearing all Saint Laurent everything, bien sûr), Dior is the first show of the week that really rockets attendees into the sartorial dreamscape, so to speak.

So you can imagine our glee, when, fresh (or more accurately, not so fresh) off a trans-Atlantic flight, we arrived in our hotel to find a very special invitation—make that two: a seat to see Dior’s spring/summer show and a little note welcoming us backstage to take in the looks pre runway. Yes, that’s right. Just us and Anna, you guys. (Okay, and a few other high profile editors, but still!!) Suffice it to say: BIG DEAL for us.

And, of course, the genius that is Raf Simons did not disappoint—like he even could. The Dior lady, was still very much present (Marion Cotillard was sitting pretty front row, after all), but in a long, leather A-line coat, slouchy Bermuda shorts and smock dresses, she was a little, well, cooler, as though the Parisian that is Jane Birkin intersected with the Parisian that is Dior’s New Look. And those sweet little skirt suits? Totally made for a circa 2015 Cher Horowitz.
